Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg has sold his house in San Francisco for $31 million after building a substantial real estate portfolio across the West Coast of the US.

New York City's most expensive home sale so far this year has been reported in The Real Deal.

In November 2012, he bought the house for about $10 million. There are over 7,000 square feet of living space in this secluded Liberty Hill house off Dolores Park.

Additionally, the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center are only a short distance away. The 1928 house is surrounded by a quarter-acre lot.

Redfin has a listing for a home with four bedrooms and four bathrooms with a total square footage of nearly 7,400 feet. The kitchen and six bathrooms also have air conditioning and sprinkler systems.

It's not clear why the house is being sold. Neighbors had complained to SFist in 2016 about the security detail's permanent use of parking spaces.
