Around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Brian Robinson Jr. was in Washington when, according to police.
He was confronted by two adolescents who attempted to take his automobile.
Robinson said on Instagram that surgery was completed with "good" results.
His coach Ron Rivera confirmed Monday that Robinson has been given good prognosis by physicians.
Doctors were "extremely optimistic with him" and "he was pretty upbeat as well," Rivera told reporters on Monday.
