Trump dialed the White House support staffer on January 6

A witness appeared before a congressional committee this week – but was admitted to the White House after a call to the person by President Trump himself.

and an agent after the rally to join his supporters at the Capitol.

Hutchinson’s testimony is reportedly being challenged by Secret Service agents.

President Trump called an unidentified witness at the end of the most recent hearing, said Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), the panel’s vice chair.

No one answered or responded when President Trump called; instead, their lawyer was alerted to it. ” They’ve informed us, and we’ve given it to the DOJ, and we’ll continue to do so,” Cheney said.

To which she added, “Any attempt to influence the testimony of a witness will be taken seriously.”

Senator Romney (R-UT) dismissed any notion that Trump had accidentally pocket dialed the witness, calling the allegation “extremely serious” in a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to the Hill, it has contacted Trump’s office and the Jan. 6 committee to request comment.

The revelations made by Cheney at the hearing on Tuesday aren’t the first indications that Trump and his allies have been exerting pressure on committee witnesses. Last month, the panel claimed that at least one witness had received text messages from Trump supporters prior to their testimony.

“[Someone] informed me that your deposition is scheduled for tomorrow. To let you know that he’s thinking of you, he’s asked me to send this message. One witness received a message that read, “He knows you’re loyal and you’re going to do the right thing when you go in for your deposition.
