2020 draft out of Arizona State, was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, according to the organization.

The first half has been difficult for both Torkelson and the Tigers. Torkelson, 22, is batting.197/.282/.296 for Detroit, which has dropped eight of its last nine games and is currently 37-55. He has five home runs and 21 RBIs.

According to Tifers manager A.J. Hinch of MLive.com, “He’s handled it like he’s handled everything thus far, with confidence, with comprehension, and with respect for the direct communication.” “I told Tork it might be 10 days, two weeks, or a month,” she said. No matter how long it takes, he needs to feel wonderful again.

Torkelson hit.267/.383/.552 with 30 home runs and 91 RBIs in 121 games last year at High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A. After going undrafted out of high school, the 6’1″, 220-pounder became the first collegiate position player to be selected first overall.
