The committee of Jan 6 wants to rebuild deleted texts from the day of the riot

The Jan. 6 committee chairman said they would try to find out how so-called “vital evidence” was erased from police’s computers.

The committee announced on January 6 that it intends to reconstruct deleted Secret Service messages.

On the day of the riot, messages from agents were found to have been deleted from their devices.

It’s possible that the messages reveal something significant about Donald Trump’s behavior on that particular day.

The Secret Service agents’ text messages from the day of the Capitol riot were mysteriously deleted, according to a House committee report released on January 6.

Messages from Secret Service agents on January 5 and 6, 2021, were deleted in a “device-replacement program” on Thursday, according to the inspector general for the Department of Homeland Security.

When the IG’s office requested records from the Secret Service as part of its investigation into the Capitol riot, it discovered that the messages had been deleted from the system.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, the committee’s chairman, told Axios that the IG had been tasked with investigating the mystery of the messages’ disappearance.

However, Thompson was unsure of what he could do to get the texts back.

However, “It’s obviously a problem,” the man said. “If there’s a way we can resurrect the texts or whatever, we’ll do it.” “

Asking if the committee would use Secret Service agents to try to reconstruct the texts, he said: “I think it’s important for us to get as much information about how this discrepancy occurred.’

The messages could be crucial evidence in the committee’s investigation into the Jan. 6 riots, which has centered on former President Donald Trump’s interactions with Secret Service agents on the day of the riot.

Witness Cassidy Hutchinson said Trump got into an altercation with his bodyguards after they refused to take him to the Capitol because they refused to take him there.

A Secret Service agent in the car with Hutchinson claimed that Trump lunged at him after his request was denied. It has been reported that some Secret Service agents will testify that this did not happen.

Special Agent Anthony Guglielmi, in a statement, denied that the Secret Service intentionally removed any of the texts and stated that it had worked closely with them during the IG investigation.
