The 10 Best Resorts in Wyoming

Jackson Hole dominates this list of the best resorts in Wyoming, a new World’s Best Awards category this year.

In Wyoming, where the antelope are rumored to outnumber people and the famed frontier spirit is not only alive but thriving, many a western film has found its inspiration. Even the national park-adjacent Jackson Hole Airport exudes a certain rustic grandeur. The least populated state, however, is more than just its rough and tumble characteristics. A nice contrast to the state’s Wild West grit is provided by posh hotels that house relaxing spas, heated infinity pools, and expansive suites with roaring fireplaces.

T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences across the world every year for our World’s Best Awards survey. Readers are asked to express their ideas on the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Hotels—along with safari lodges—were evaluated based on their features, setting, service, cuisine, and overall value. Depending on where they were and what they offered, properties were categorized as city hotels, resorts, or safari lodges.

Wyoming is perhaps best known for being the location of some of the nation’s most popular natural attractions: Grand Teton National Park’s craggy, snow-capped peaks are the real crowd-pleasers, while Yellowstone, the nation’s oldest national park, draws tourists with its geothermal hot springs and geysers. A gateway to both is Jackson Hole, located in the valley that holds the well-known ski resort of Jackson. So it should come as no surprise that it tops this list of Wyoming’s top resort hotels, a brand-new World’s Best Awards category this year.

At No. 1, the Cloudveil, Autograph Collection, is situated on Jackson’s historic town center, making it a short stroll from nearby honky-tonks and the renowned Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. This year’s No. 2 choice is located nearer to the slopes: Resort and Residences at Four Seasons At the foot of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is Jackson Hole, which provides ski-in, ski-out access, unrestricted views of the Tetons, and a lovely spa. One reader said, “Get a mountain-facing room with a fireplace.” Amangani (No. 4) is a great place to stay if you’re looking for those tranquil Teton and Snake River views in a more secluded area. With luxuriously cozier amenities like fireplaces, deep soaking tubs, and an outdoor heated pool, Amangani, which means “calm house,” offers a really quiet atmosphere year-round.

The Cloudveil, Jackson Hole’s Autograph Collection

Located in the center of Jackson, The Cloudveil, Autograph Collection opened its doors in 2021 and made T+L’s editor-curated It List in 2022. Its ideal position puts visitors close to the town’s stores, eateries, and bars while also making it a great place from which to explore Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks. But the hotel’s convenience doesn’t end there; guests can schedule a fitting for ski and snowboard equipment there and then have their rentals delivered right to the mountain. On-site amenities include a hot tub and outdoor pool that are great for après-ski, as well as the Bistro, a popular dining option for visitors who aren’t staying the night. With saddlebag accents on headboards and horseshoe-shaped drawer handles, guests are continually reminded that they are in cowboy country and near to the outdoors (a 3,000-pound granite boulder serves as the front desk). One reader declared that it is “by far the best hotel in Jackson Hole.” “Genuinely warm, outgoing, and courteous service staff that anticipates all of your needs. A wonderful experience all around.”
