Ivan Lendl, who was once the world’s best tennis player, is reportedly trying to fetch more than $16 million for his enormous Connecticut estate. The home itself is impressive enough at 18,000 square feet but just as impressive is the huge 445-acre parcel of land surrounding it in the foothills of Cornwall, Connecticut.

“Pass by horse paddocks, a barn, and a long, winding driveway on your route to the immaculate stone mansion after passing through the gates. First-floor entrance leads to a main floor that is lit by natural light and has nearly every room equipped with French doors leading to lovely patios and gardens. A wood-paneled library, spacious living room, formal dining room, and family room, all with fireplaces and wide plank oak floors, as well as a trophy room/office and an eat-in chef’s kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances and butler’s pantry complete the 1st level… A 3 bay detached garage with office space on the second floor complements the three bay attached garage. Overlooking the foothills of Connecticut, this is everything.”

Altogether, Hillhouse, as the main house is known, sprawls across 18,000 square feet with ten bedrooms and ten bathrooms, all located in Cornwall and Goshen, CT, said to be a roughly two-hour drive from both New York City and Boston, so the location is definitely part of the appeal as well. Lendl’s $16.4 million asking price almost probably stems from the appropriate balance of seclusion and accessibility. The mansion’s many internal amenities, which include a swimming pool with two adjacent locker rooms, a sauna, a fitness area, and a full-size gymnasium, are also true of that. Another swimming pool, this one a heated gunite pool with a cabana attached, is located outside. There is also a tennis court.
