Warchief, the upcoming film from BAFTA-winning director/writer/actor Stuart Brennan and Golden Globe-winning producer Gareth Wiley, has been acquired by Kaleidoscope Film Distribution for worldwide international sales and U.K. and Ireland distribution.

Currently filming in the English county of Suffolk, the unannounced feature will be completed by the end of 2022, with the first elements debuting at the Toronto International Film Festival this coming September.

Unaware that they are being pursued by bloodthirsty orcs, Warchief tags along with a group of guardians as they transport a mysterious messenger to their king. Michael Lambourne (Cashback), Andrea Vasiliou (Wonder Woman), Suzanne Packer (BAFTA nominated, Casualty), Mark Wake (Kingslayer), and newcomer Rosanna Miles also star in the film that Brennan wrote, directed, and starred in.

Doug Milsome, a seasoned cinematographer whose previous works include Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and A Clockwork Orange, as well as films by Stanley Kubrick like The Shining, Barry Lyndon, and Full Metal Jacket, takes the helm here.

It’s wonderful to have such a prominent, award-winning team working with me on such a massive undertaking. We’re thrilled to have Kaleidoscope bring our band of Orcs to market, as they’ve had such great success with our previous projects,” said Brennan.

Wiley’s collaborations with Woody Allen have yielded two Golden Globe wins and a nomination: the former for 2009’s Vicky, Christina, Barcelona, the latter for 2005’s Match Point. Brennan has won multiple awards for his films, including best actor at the BAFTA Cymru Awards for his role in Risen and best director at the Independent Spirit Awards for his work on The Necromancer and Plan Z, both of which he wrote, directed, and starred in.

Kingslayer, which premieres in the United Kingdom this September, is Kaleidoscope’s first film with Brennan and Wiley.

The CEO of Kaleidoscope Film Distribution, Spencer Pollard, also serves as an executive producer on Warchief. “Following on from the great success we’ve had with Stuart and Gareth with Kingslayer at Berlin and Cannes, we are very excited to have come on board at the production stage on Warchief,” Pollard said. The film will be very commercial, and we are excited to show it to buyers at the upcoming MIPCOM and AFM markets as well as in Toronto.

Wiley added, “Warchief takes Stuart Brennan to a whole new level as a filmmaker. It’s great to be reunited with him in the workplace. We are thrilled to have Kaleidoscope on board for Warchief, as they did an excellent job with our first project together, Kingslayer.
