Nashville, TN (AP) — Los Angeles FC’s 2-1 win over Nashville Predators on Sunday night featured MLS debuts for Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini.

Captain Gareth Bale of Wales, 33, was introduced in the 71st minute. After seven seasons with Tottenham and eight with Real Madrid, the five-time Champions League winner joined LA to prepare for Wales’ first World Cup appearance since 1958.

Chiellini, a 38-year-old defender, started and played the entire game despite his age. Chiellini played for Juventus for 18 seasons, winning nine Serie A titles. He also made 117 appearances for Italy, scoring eight goals.

Nashville’s Hany Mukhtar netted his 12th league goal of the season, one behind league-leader Valentn Castellanos of New York City.

Los Angeles’ (13-4-3) José Cifuentes scored his career-high sixth goal of the season in the 46th minute to break a 1-1 tie.

A Christian Arango goal in the 27th minute gave the visitors a 1-0 lead, their sixth in seven games and their eighth this season.

When Mukhtar converted a 43rd-minute penalty kick that went in off the post, he tied the score for Nashville (8-7-6) in his fifth straight match. When Ilie Sanchez brought down C.J. Sapong during a corner kick, referee Drew Fischer did not call a foul, but the penalty was awarded following a video review.

Nashville had three shots on goal to LAFC’s five, as the Predators outshot the Los Angeles Galaxy 12-10.
