Saquon Barkley, one of the NFL’s top running backs, has endured a number of injuries over his brief career. He is also highly marketable. Barkley has a great personality and business sense, and the fact that he plays in one of the nation’s largest markets—New York—provides him with a wealth of chances.

In fact, Barkley already has a solid portfolio of endorsement partners, including Nike, Pepsi, Toyota, Visa, Dunkin’, and Hulu. His deals add up to more than $10 million in annual revenue.

Although other players have dabbled in cryptocurrencies, no decision of this nature regarding off-field revenue has ever been made before. And Barkley is undoubtedly the biggest figure to use his endorsements to make a significant crypto push. Because of the current high rate of inflation, Barkley said he decided to utilize Bitcoin because he believes he will get a greater value that way than he would with cash.

He will continue to get the same NFL salary, at least initially. Barkley is on a four-year, $31.2 million deal with the Giants through 2022.

Barkley also added on “The Best Business Show,” that he wanted to build “generational wealth,” citing the business acumen of other athletes like Tom Brady and Kevin Durant. We’ll have to wait and see if Barkley ends up there, but the journey will undoubtedly be exciting.
