During the 50th anniversary season, the Spurs will be releasing a new line of jerseys for their devoted fan base. On Monday, July 25th, the Spurs debuted their Statement Edition uniform, a throwback to the Mexican serape.

The Statement Edition uniform is just one of five options for the upcoming season. The newly revealed secondary Texas and SATX logos are displayed across the chest of the new design, which takes inspiration from traditional Mexican serapes and saddle blankets.

“Our new Statement Edition uniform embodies the evolution of our team’s roots while celebrating fans across the entire region,” says Becky Kimbro, VP of Brand Engagement for Spurs Sports & Entertainment. Our 50 years of history and the rich heritage we celebrate both on and off the court come together in the intricate serape pattern.

The Spurs have stated that the design was inspired by their “legacy in Texas.”

The unveiling of the serape uniform follows the introduction of a new style just earlier this month. For the anniversary season, the team has released a new throwback jersey in the style popularized by George Gervin. A City Edition uniform for the Spurs is also forthcoming.

According to LockerVision, every team can have up to five different jerseys at any given time. For special occasions like anniversaries or landmarks in a team’s history, the Classic Edition is the way to go.

This new Spurs 50th anniversary merchandise will be available to fans this fall at Spurs Fans Shops and online. The jerseys will be sold as a part of a larger commemorative collection that will also include T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets, jerseys, caps, and more.
