Chris Cuomo Reportedly Wants A $60 Million Settlement From CNN, More Than Triple What’s Left On His Contract

Cuomo wants CNN to pay him not just the remaining balance of his contract but also revenue for the next “15 or 20” years of his career since he believes the entire incident has damaged his professional reputation.

Even though Chris Cuomo’s departure from CNN was disgraceful, a recent Page Six report suggests that the former anchor isn’t quite ready to go goodbye. Sources indicate that Cuomo is looking for a settlement of around $60 million from the network, far more than the $18 million he had left on his contract with the news channel, and that he was previously reportedly ready to sue CNN to get.

Reports on the issue come as Jeff Zucker, CNN’s longstanding president, announced his departure from the organization. According to the report, Cuomo also thinks that Zucker’s departure is related to his own and that nothing he did to back his brother Andrew Cuomo, who was the governor of New York at the time, in his fight against sexual assault claims, was done without Zucker’s knowledge or approval. Zucker’s relationship with Allison Gollust, a fellow CNN employee, was the stated cause for his resignation, but Cuomo seems to think that was just a pretext.

One source states this like this:

“Zucker was not let go due to an inappropriate relationship with Allison Gollust, according to [Cuomo’s] camp. Everyone was aware of that, yet nobody gave a damn. What he believes happened is WarnerMedia found something in their investigation into Chris, perhaps internal memos or documents which revealed more about Zucker’s involvement with Andrew Cuomo. Just a convenient justification, lust.”

Cuomo wants CNN to pay him not just the remaining balance of his contract but also revenue for the next “15 or 20” years of his career since he believes the entire incident has damaged his professional reputation. “He might demand as much as $80 million, but CNN won’t give it to him. There is a defense, though, that he might demand $60 million “as calculated by the earlier source.

There are still many chapters to be written in this complicated issue, both publicly and privately at CNN. But if the report is accurate, Cuomo isn’t ready to go away quietly without a big payday in the meantime.
